NOTE: for the workshops below Workshops take 1.5 to 2 hours and can be combined in one day for your area

$15 session or $40 for three sessions. (Beneficiaries $7.50 a workshop or $20 for three) Riverton based courses run with a minimum of 5, courses elsewhere minimum of 8. All courses have a maximum of 15. (Some courses are sponsored by local community groups and can be free or donation only for their members)

These are the courses organised at this stage- it is not too late to request a course in your area on these and other topics. Call Robyn during office hours to discuss the possibilities.

Chemical Free Cleaning Next course July 6th 10am Riverton Environment Centre. Sick of loading up your trolley with expensive commercial cleaners and adding to the plastic waste? Save money and learn how great it is to use natural cleaners. These tried and true methods are just as effective and much better for your health. Cost $15 and receive a free Natural Cleaners Chart.

Make your own Cosmetics . Next course Monday 11th July 7pm Riverton Environment Centre. Everything you put on your skin is absorbed into your body- make sure what you put in is mainly edible. A practical course making and trialling our favourite recipes... Hand creams, moisturisers, face packs, bath bags and more.... feel the difference! Cost $15 includes samples to take home and recipe sheet.

Bountiful Backyards Next course July 16th 10-4pm Riverton Are you ready to trade lawns for vege gardens and exotic shrubs for fruit trees and berries then this is the course for you. How to make your back yard soil fertile, all about growing vegetables, berries, herbs and fruit trees. Grow healthy organic food in your own backyard and save $$$. This is for people who are new to gardening and those who have done a bit but would like to know how to make it more successful with the minimum of effort. Full day course (three sessions) $40 bring a plate to share for lunch.

Cooking with the Seasons: Winter Details to come It is cheaper to cook with what is in season with local produce. These recipes are quick to make and super nutritious. We will make and taste several dishes as a group and you will take home lots more of our favourite recipes. $15 plus $5 in cover ingredients used.

COB OVEN Workshop Next course Spring 2011 Learn to build one in this full day course $30 pp bring a lunch plate to share. 8 people minimum and maximum. Host it at your place and you get to keep it! Easy enough once you have built one you can get your own family and friends to build one at your place.

Seed Saving Workshop Next courses: 25th July 1.30pm and Wednesday 6th September 7pm both in Riverton. How to gather, sort, clean and store seeds. How to choose seeds that can be saved once grown. It is easy but there are several pitfalls to avoid. Will cover saving seeds from each family group and you will get lots of seeds to take home for free! $15

Grafting Apple Trees Next course Spring 2011 Learn to graft fruit trees and then you can reproduce your favourites. $20 and you take your first two apple trees home. $2.50 for further trees. Also included information on setting up and orchard and caring for your trees. First two weeks September Contact the centre to express your interest and we will let you know the nearest one to you.

Introduction to Beekeeping Next course Spring 2011 Want to keep your own bees for honey and pollination? Learn about the equipment you need, where to source it, how much it costs. Learn how to care for your bees throughout the year to keep them happy and thriving. Cost $10 2 hour course then optional practical session maintaining a live hive an extra $5

Introduction to Permaculture Next course Spring 2011 Held at the Guyton's property you will see how they have used the concepts of permaculture in their gardens, food forest, buildings and design systems. $40 bring pot luck lunch to share.

Note the Guyton's are planning a full Permaculture Design Course run in modules over 2012 so this introduction is a great way to find out more about permaculture and the 80 hour course. The course will be run over 4 weekends one each season starting 1pm Friday to 5pm Sunday. and more
